Biography
George Harrison (who has no middle name) was born on February 25, 1943, although his birth certificate argues that he was born February 24.

When he joined the Beatles, he was a "disciple of mine," as John Lennon said. At first, his songwriting skills were not as sharp as John or Paul's, but the song "Don't Bother Me" is a teriffic first song. In the late 60s, Harrison's songs got better, writing "Something," "Here Comes the Sun," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and other classics. In 1966, he married Patti Boyd, who he divorced in the mid-70s.

Harrison once said the two luckiest breaks in his life were joining the Beatles, and leaving the Beatles. The Beatles' loss was George's gain, as can be shown in the amazing box set, All Things Must Pass. George began charity concerts with the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, yet his music later was not plentiful. In 1978, he married a woman named Olivia a month after their song Dhani was born. His final studio solo record was the well-recieved Cloud Nine. He soon started the just-for-laughs (but amazing) supergroup, the Traveling Wilburys. In 1997, he discovered a cancerous growth on his lung, which was quickly removed. But his problems were not over: On December 30, 1999, George was stabbed almost fatally by an intruder. He recovered, but soon discovered he had more cancer.

On November 29, 2001, George Harrison lost his battle to cancer. He was 58

All Things Must Pass This is George's best solo album, his first one released, in 1970. The 2001 reissue features 5 bonus tracks, including an outtake ("I Live for You") and a newly recorded version of "My Sweet Lord." This reissue is a must, and is not hard to find in the U.S.

The Traveling Wilburys in 1988, shortly before Roy Orbison died. That's George on the far right.
The Concert for Bangladesh When George's friend Ravi Shankar told George about a famine in Ravi's home, George organized this benefit concert for relief efforts, the first major charity concert. Also appearing were Ringo Starr and Bob Dylan in his first concert in over 5 years. The concert was released as a box set the next year.
